Custom illustration and event branding for weekly craft beer & music event.
Following a request to help brand a weekly craft beer & music event, OW|EN created the name and visual branding for the Thursday Hoppy Hour series by Events at Delaware Park Marcy Casino. Using a custom illustration showcasing the Marcy Casino – a unique venue on Buffalo’s Delaware Park lake – and an intense color scheme inspired by the brilliant sunset that occurs during the event’s timeframe, these posters became an easily recognizable and memorable brand material.
Since the Hoppy Hour was a once-a-week event, all the branding had to be temporary and removable. The graphics were implemented on a large hanging vinyl banner, a double-sided pop-up sign that stood at the entranceway, 11 x 17″ posters and smaller 4.5 x 5.5″ handbill flyers.
The seasonal event successfully ran from early Spring to mid Fall for two years, until plans were made to turn the venue in a year-round restaurant, The Terrace. For Hoppy Hour’s second year, we retained all the same imagery, fonts and layout, and simply adjusted the color scheme by shifting from oranges to a set of purple hues.
