Salon Exterior Signage

Branded exterior signage helps establish a newly relocated beauty salon in the Hertel Ave area.

In light of an impending move, Fuse Salon & Gallery came to OW|EN for help with creating custom exterior signage for their new location. The signs needed to be designed to fit existing structures on the building: a curved awning over the entryway, and a large monument sign mounted on posts in front of the property.

Our team applied the salon’s brand to the signage art with respect to these production parameters, making sure that both pieces would fits their frames like a glove on installation day.

Branded signage on the curved awning outside of Fuse Salon establish the business in the neighborhood
A large post sign outside of Fuse Salon is part of a set of branded exterior signage designed by OW|EN

We selected supporting typefaces to complement the existing Fuse logo, pairing a thin, almost geometric font with the heavy, condensed letterforms of the logo mark. As part of the design process, we reviewed how the text would display at actual size to ensure that the signage would be legible at a distance – a critical factor for passersby trying to identify the business.

A set of branded exterior signs establish the Fuse Salon brand in a new neighborhood

On both the awning and post sign, we applied a subtle dot halftone pattern to the background on either side of the Fuse logo to imply a gradation or ‘fusing’ of two entities. The dots add texture to the design and give it a sense of depth without distracting from the business information, which is of primary importance. For the larger post sign, we made sure to advertise the various aspects of the brand, which includes hair and beauty salon services, an art gallery, and a small shop of handmade goods.
