NATURE PRESERVE TRAIL MAP
Trail map signage for a 324-acre nature preserve.
The OW|EN team was tasked with upgrading a set of trail maps for the Beaver Meadow Nature Center in North Java, NY. The 324-acre nature preserve is managed by the Buffalo Audubon Society, providing a habitat for wildlife and a destination for nature lovers in New York state. Our design took the original black and white hand-drawn map and upgraded it to a navigable color-coded system for easier wayfinding. The new map highlights individual trails, their lengths and difficulty, with key viewing points noted throughout to help visitors plan their hiking trip.
The final maps were printed on 1/8” Polymetal at 56” x 35”, 38” x 24” and two smaller 11” x 17” versions installed by our team throughout the Center.
The maps were also reproduced as part of a folded, pocket-sized guide, and as a set of smaller, letter-sized panels – also printed on the durable Polymetal substrate – that were donated to the Center and used by their volunteer-guides during educational tours.
