Permanent exhibit highlights every player in the history of the Buffalo Sabres.
The Buffalo Sabres Alumni Experience is a custom exhibit designed to celebrate the legacy of every Sabres player in the team’s history. This permanent display was created for a private club room on the 200 level of the KeyBank Center and is only accessible to players, alumni and their families. OW|EN created the wall murals and panels with the goal of filling the room with the memories and the legacy of this 50 year old team.

Months of research and acquisition went into the production of this space. This intensive development period was necessary in order to include every Sabres alumni and maintain continuity in a design built around graphic elements that span 50 years. Fourteen acrylic boards are spread out over two walls, layered over larger than life wall murals.
The exhibit chronicles the Buffalo Sabres history with a combination of scanned hockey cards, action photos, and yearly rosters highlighting team and NHL milestones. Every player called on the roster in the history of the Sabres can be found on the walls of the Alumni Room.
Dual-surface printed acrylic panels are offset-mounted from the wall for a dramatic presentation. The physicality of the hockey cards are emphasized as light passes through the panels, casting subtle shadows on the wall murals behind. Reverse-printing the acrylic panels required thorough testing and numerous print proofs during the production and construction management phases of the project to ensure the desired results.
The custom exhibit display also included a separate set of dual-surface printed 11 x 15” action photos, paired with quotes from past Buffalo Sabres coaches, hovering over a large action mural of the Memorial Auditorium. On the final wall, a large, inspirational quote rendered in wall-mounted aluminum letters welcomes team members and alumni with the words, “We play together. We win together. We lose together. We stay together.”
